Minimum of three students is required for each class. If the class is cancelled by The Griffing Network you are entitled to a full refund or registration for another class.
$50 discount if two or more people from the same firm attend the same class

PCLaw Getting Started – The Right Way (Half-day class)
PCLaw is a fully integrated time, billing, accounting and practice management program. PCLaw features real-time posting of client expenses and professional time. Although this class is ideal as an introduction to the product, many experienced users find the answers to puzzling questions by learning the “right way” to set up and use the program. Topics covered include:
- System, workstation and connection settings. (The right way!)
- Effectively set up clients and matters—as well as timekeepers and tasks— to eliminate correction of entries at billing time.
- Enter and review time efficiently from the Time Sheet view—or by posting a calendar item.
- Post client expenses from client recovery, checks or A/P entries.
- Edit pre-bills interactively.
- Understand the basic reports and how to edit entries directly from the reports.
- Work with shortcuts, including explanation codes and data entry quick tips.
PCLaw Beyond Billing! (Half-day class)
This class requires an understanding of the concepts covered in PCLaw Getting Started – The Right Way! The focus of the session is to learn how to setup Accounting and Time & Billing information to produce meaningful management reports. PCLaw/PCLaw Pro reporting capabilities are extremely flexible and comprehensive. This class helps you to understand the numbers. Students are encouraged to bring live examples of information they want to interpret or produce on management reports. Topics covered include the following:
- A review system, workstation and connection settings focusing on the accounting and trust accounting elements. (The right way!)
- Unraveling the mystery of appropriately posting client expenses--both hard and soft—to produce meaningful management reports and financial statements that reflect the firm’s changing investment in client costs.
- Understanding PCLaw’s allocation of professional time or dollars billed and collected for hourly billing with markups/downs and fixed fee or contingency through appropriate posting and reporting.
- Advanced matter setup issues such as split billing or allocations.
- GL account setup with account grouping options and effective use of explanation codes.
- An overview of the template editor for modifying invoice and statement layout.
PCLaw Accounting (Half-day class)
Understanding and preparing PCLaw financial statements and performing month-end and year-end procedures. Users will learn the proper month-end procedures, including reconciling bank accounts, preparing monthly financial statements (General Ledger, Balance Sheet, Income Statement), General Journal entries, & closing the financial month or year. Presentation issues and posting issues will be explored to expedite the reconciliation process at month-end or year-end. Attendees need not have a formal accounting background. Understanding of the concepts taught in PCLaw Getting Started and Beyond Billing is required to make maximize the benefits of this class.
PCLaw Practice Management (Half-day class)
Learn to use practice management tools including Calendar, Contact Manager and Phone Call Manager, Case Notes—along with the new Document Management and Research Tools.
- Track appointments and tasks, associate them with client matters, and convert them to billable time entries.
- Share timekeeper calendar information across your firm.
- Manage contacts, clients, matters, and vendors and include them in conflict checking.
- Synchronize your contacts, appointments, and to-do’s with Outlook and your PDA.
- E-mail integration with Outlook for both incoming and outgoing e-mail messages, including attachments.
- Fully functional documents management features allow you to store and retrieve documents by matter, and search all PCLaw documents, e-mail messages, author, key words, or document type and description.
Template Editor (Half-day class)
Learn to use the template editor to design and edit PCLaw templates. This session concentrates on the nuts and bolts of creating or editing the appearance of your client invoices and other templates, as well as highlighting tips and tricks to make the editing process easier.
- Create mailing & file labels, customize your financial statements, Past Due Notices, Receipts & Deposit Slips.
- Master Bill Layout and design elements to produce the bill format you want.

Management Reporting and Financial Analysis Using PCLaw (Custom Class)
This class is usually taught on-site, and is interactive with accounting professionals, management and partners of a firm. It is designed to use the reports from PCLaw and the background knowledge of our consultants to interpret the performance level of the firm in light of management’s goals and objectives. If you are wondering how your firm’s performance compares to others of a similar size or practice area, this class is for you. Ways to increase profit in a changing legal environment is the focus. This class may be divided into several workshop sessions. Topics vary based on the reporting needs of the firm.
